After the peace negotiations and treaty of 1645–46, there was only a brief respite in the Huron–Iroquois struggle. The Hurons were attacked repeatedly by their enemies, in particular the Mohawks and Senecas, until, in 1649, their country was completely devastated. The destruction of Huronia finally ended the Huron–Iroquois struggle; complicated peace negotiations followed, and a treaty was signed on 13 Dec. 1665.
